Meta Tag Form

In an effort to maximize the value your prospects and your clients receive from your Web site, we are asking you to fill out this online form.  By filling out this form, you will be providing us with information that is critical to having your Web site indexed with the major search engines.

This form will help us develop the code that will make up your site's Meta Tags.  As we explained in our
Meta Tag Summary, without meta tags, your site can't be successfully registered with the search engines, thus making it virtually impossible for people that routinely use search engines to find you when they look online for businesses like yours.

Due to the nature of meta tags and search engine registration, most clients want to provide us with the information that will go in their site's meta tags.  This form was developed to help you do that quickly and easily.

Please fill this form out in its entirety and then click on the submit button so that your meta tags can be processed.  Please be certain that the information you provide us with is final as this is a one-time procedure.

Meta Tag Description

The meta description tag is used to assist search engines in summarizing a Web site.  The size of the description tag should be under 180 characters (this limit works on all of the major search engines).  180 characters is the equivalent of a sentence or two (25 words or less).  Use lower case letters unless a specific word requires all caps.  Below is an example of McDonald's meta description:

McDonald's is a fast food restaurant chain serving such favorites as Egg McMuffin sandwiches for breakfast and Big Mac sandwiches and french fries for lunch and dinner.

This gives a simple example for a business we all know.  For your company, try developing a description that has your company name, market/industry, and/or services.

Please do not add 'marketing hype' to your description.  Just keep it simple and to the point (for example, if you were a shoe store, you would write
"Purchase athletic shoes, running shoes, hiking boots and other footwear plus try our cross country trail finder." not "World’s LARGEST online shoe store with the best prices from the greatest brands!!!!"

Please provide your description in the field below.  Remember to keep it 180 characters (about 25 words) or less.

Meta Tag Keywords

The meta keywords tag provides keywords for the search engine to use when indexing Web pages.  Keywords are important because the search engines use this information to determine what queries your Web site will be listed under.   For example, a user might visit the Waterford Web site to purchase a wedding gift, but could also find the site when conducting a search for 'crystal.'  The size of the keyword tag should be under 800 characters (actual limit size is 1,024 characters but 800 works on all of the major search engines).  Use lower case letters unless a specific word requires all caps.

800 characters is the equivalent of a large paragraph.  For purposes of our client sites, 5-20 keywords should suffice.  Below is an example of McDonald's meta keywords:

www.mcdonalds.com, mcdonalds.com, mcdonald's, mc, mcdonalds, mc donalds, mc donald's, donalds, corporation, mcdonaldland, happy, meal, Big Mac, McMuffin, Ronald, Food, Franchise, Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Quarter Pounder, fry, fries, RMHC, RMCC, ronald, stock, MCD

For your company, try developing keywords that include the company name, market/industry, services, product names, etc.

The process of defining keywords begins by listing all the words and concepts you think other people will use when searching for your Web site. Try to anticipate what prospects and clients would type into a search engine.  Use words from your service listing or mission statement.  If necessary, look at competitor Web sites, and examine what keywords they are using (by viewing the source code in the Web browser).  Remember not to repeat keywords too many times as some search engines view this as spam (and won't index the page).

Please provide your keywords in the field below (try to keep it between 5 and 20 words)*:
